Creatieland

creatieland_533.jpg

The Centrum voor Creatief Leren (“Centre for Creative Learning”) offers care and education to highly gifted children who can no longer connect with regular schools. Together with these children the Centre investigates which forms of education can meet their needs. Experience from the last three years made clear that for these children internet applications have to be part of their learning surroundings; they can offer them many possibilities for development that are lacking elsewhere. With the help of Digitale Pioniers a virtual playground was created where they learn to better communicate their wishes and ambitions and where they can get in touch with the right knowledge and tools to reach the desired development and to further deepen their talents.

Final Products

Creatieland is no longer online. The site was a virtual playground where highly gifted children were playfully challenged to put an effort into the realization of personal ambitions. The so-called creation coil was the starting point of the website. One got sucked into a virtual game that lets one meet the thoughts of the creation coil. It was a place where the highly gifted could meet each other, start up projects with each other, or start research together. Several game situations were handed that enabled them to develop themselves in many different directions. One could also leave messages for co-gamers.

Impact

By building a digital meeting point (school of the future) highly gifted students were stimulated to develop themselves. They got tools to start the process with themselves. This will further their individual learning path and their integration into society. Communicating with others prevents their possible isolation, but it also serves to start up an exchange of knowledge.
