Heinook.nl

People with a mental challenge often have jobs and offer a useful contribution to our society. The problem is, the public is often not aware of what they have to offer to the world and how they live their daily lives. The project Heinook was started by the Hein van den Eijnden Foundation. It aimed to make the work of people with a mental challenge visible to the outisde world and to inspire collegues of their possibilites in work.

On the site people with a mental challenge can get a place for themselves to make their own website. The target group presents itself with their work, network, holiday pictures, interests and dreams. This tangible presentation contributes to the forming of their own identity. Ten contributers are presented to start with. Their sites will serve as examples for next patricipants, who'll all get their own web address which consistsof their first name finished by .werktook.nl. After all, doesn't everybody who has something to tell have their own domain or weblog? werktook.nl showes that people with a mental challenge can also work, have their own story and have their own place in our society.

Final products

Through the site the target group can share their experience and knowledge, and possible employers and society could get a better idea of who they are. During the project mentally challenged people are educated to run the databases for collegues who were not able to do that. This way, ‘Hein ook’ would also bring in new work and work relations.
