Jamsession

www.flimfilm.com (under construction)
Flimfilm is a group of four filmmakers. The reason for the
project The Story of Boris lies in the problems of refugees, more specifically
the difficult predicament of the traumatized refugee. The theme of The Story of
Boris concerns the question of offender and victim. Is ‘Boris’ a refugee, is he
an offender or a victim, is it possible to put it as black-and-white as this,
are there extenuating circumstances, and how does one deal with this? The
project’s innovative character is carried by a command of the filming profession
and experience with earlier pioneering on the net. With the help of Digitale
Pioniers the website is developed as part of the project.
Final products
www.storyofboris.com was launched on May 1st, 2005. How this worked out can be read in the gradual
plan in the Library. It’s not a site that simply offers information, it shows
and comments on the manner in which the information is used. That’s why the
visitor and viewer can make up their own opinion in a new and balanced way. The
site is filled with lots of information, via tags, documents, films, photos, so
that the visitor has to construct his own image of Boris.
Impact
There is a lot of talk about new developments in the media
landscape. This project is a good example of such new developments. The
multi-media possibilities of internet and the ‘ordinary’ documentary are
strenghtening each other. In The Story of Boris a complicated subject like war
trauma is thus revealed and made accessible in a balanced way. The documentary
will be shown on television during the 2005/2006 season.
