Middendelfland

In the Year of the Farm (2003) the Midden Delfland is
mensenwerk (MDMW) foundation took the initiative for an oral history project
about life on farms in Midden Delfland between 1900 and 1940. An interactive
website was developed and an educative program for schools was started. One
opted for a dynamic website with easy publication facilities to enable users to
supplement and adjust the material continually. With the help of Digitale
Pioniers a new and living digital identity of the region came into
being.
Final Products
The website www.middendelflandismensenwerk.nl contains interviews and a large amount of image material and data that have been
collected in the past decades by historical societies. In a systematic and
attractive way all this is made accessible to researchers and other interested
people. An educative section is connected to the website, where teachers can
place assignments for their pupils. Students can fulfil these by using the
information on the site, and publish their results on the site as well.
Impact
The website has yielded a wealth of information about the
region. The MDMW foundation now has an instrument with which it can approach
schools and historical societies and invite them to work together. In the summer
of 2004 an audio bicycle tour was realized whereby one can order information
about the region over a cell phone.
