Monsters van een andere wereld

In 2001 Martin van Wallenburg finished his studies with his
thesis ‘Monsters van een andere wereld’. His goal was to start and stimulate a
growing consciousness about the origin and maintenance of our images of
‘others’. Together with Rini Hartman of the Digicare foundation six stories from
the thesis were transfered into a multi-media, interactive documentary for
students between 12 and 14 years old. With the help of Digitale Pioniers a
website has been developed with the translated thesis. The website renders the
insights and knowledge of the thesis accessible for a broad
audience.
Final products
In
Monsters the thesis is now offered as an interactive documentary for a broad audience.
The formerly dead and dusty matter has now been reanimated to re-use in a modern
context. The blood-curdling, moving, embarassing, funny and amazing historical
facts are now offered in an animating manner.
Impact
In former days a thesis was only well researched and
documented and especially accessible and readable for co-scientists. To the main
audience a thesis was almost incomprehensible and hardly accessible. By this
translation such a thesis will reach a much larger and also younger
audience.
