This platform aims to inform the youth in a modern manner
about durable entrepreneurship, development cooperation and globalization. Apart
from the transfer of knowledge MoveYourAss?.tv is an online crusade from youths
who, armed with a healthy supply of humour and a backpack full with technology,
are looking for the best and funniest ways of improving the world. They
investigate what people do or don’t do to better divide the global burdens and
desires. MoveYourAss? is now part of De Nieuwe Omroep (“the new broadcasting
corporation”). With the help of Digitale Pioniers the multi-media interaction is
enlarged so as to enable the youths to expand MoveYourAss?.tv’s
community.
Final products
www.moveyourass.tv is an information and communication platform directed towards 15 to 26 years old
youth. At first one wanted to develop a participation tool so that children
could place independent content. Instead the
MoveYourAss? Cafe came, which offers
the possibility to put, after the intervention of the editors, films and weblogs
online. On the
MoveYourAss? Forum one can take part in the community that arises
on
MoveYourAss?.tv. With
MoveYourMouth? Multimedia Forum visitors themselves can
upload and place an audio, video, text or photo response to an opinion.
The forum is also being used for the international program
called MoveYourAss?.tv Downtown. At the moment two cameras are travelling around
the world to collect photos and short films by youths. In this way a fast
growing number of multi-media opinions is being hoped for.
Impact
changes led to a temporary interruption of the project, but things are quickly
caught up with. The participation tool is still being developed and will be
launched together with the renewed site. The current website attracts around 900
visitors a day. Part of the visitors likes to be involved actively with the
site. On the website a mix of video-audio reports and independent journalism is
offered together with background information, personal experiences, a job bank,
tips & tricks, online courses, and entertainment. New films and travel
reports are published continually, complemented with relevant background
information and links. There are fourteen youths with their own weblogs with
films and textual diaries. The reporters abroad use the audio weblog tool to
record texts for their weblogs.
