Oog op Europa

The Waarde (“Value”) foundation deals with public campaigns.
They ascertained that the image most media outlines for ‘Europe’ is often based
on a one-sided approach: central concepts are ‘economy’ and ‘legislation’.
Europe therefore stands far off for a lot of people. Especially the landscape
and rural life of many Europeans is absolutely underexposed, even when the
diverse landscapes and ways of life are so beautiful and inspiring. What is
striking is that while the media and politicians don’t seem to pay a lot of
attention to these aspects of Europe and the European unification, most citizens
who march into Europe (on holiday) every year do. With the help of Digitale
Pioniers a website is launched with a digital photo album of Europe, which shows
what Europe has to offer through the eye of the ‘common’
Dutchman.
Final products
www.oogopeuropa.nl is a website on which more than 500 photographs of Europe can be seen. Visitors
can also send pictures themselves which, after an assessment, can be placed in
the album. In this way participants can join a competition and win a prize.
Visitors of the site can comment on the photos they encounter or send them as an
e-card. The site has been made in cooperation with
Impact
In total 700 photographs were sent in of which 500 are
selected. During the peak period, the summer holidays, the website had an
average amount of visitors of 2,000 a month. On average 50,000 pages a month
were looked at, which is about 25 pages per visitor. The municipality of
Nijmegen and the butterfly foundation, among others, are interested in the
concept of the digital photo album.
