Politiek Digitaal
www.politiek-digitaal.nl
Pol-di.net is a Germany based association that has as its aim to discover and disclose for the (European) information society the new media’s democratic potential. The Politiek-Digitaal foundation aims to further develop the domain, and to stimulate the use of www.politiek-digitaal.nl.
With the help of Digitale Pioniers tools were developed to make the site more inter-active. Also, a formula was developed to streamline the site’s team of editors in order to ensure constantly new content on the site.
Final Products
The forum offers all research, tools (Eigen Mens-ofmening-Votepointer and Charming-or-Alarming tool 2003), and articles free of charge; they are all freely accessible via the website. In the Library one can find the proposal for a new journalistic formula of Politiek-Digitaal.
Impact
The success of the project is huge. After Kieswijzer.nl the website was the most visited Dutch political website during the 2002 and 2003 elections. For instance, in the beginning of 2003 there were 20,000 unique visitors per month. Files are started that deal with subjects like Open source (guest chief editor: Kees Vendrik) and Inter-active policy moulding (guest chief editor: Thom de Graaf). The files are distributed among newsletter readers, in cooperation with, among others, Publistat, De Balie, OSOSS, the University of Amsterdam the VU, Onlijn, and Groen Links. Highlight: an interview with Dries van Agt (former Dutch prime minister), conducted by Poldi, was broadcasted on the nationwide NOS news.
This project was executed between February 2003 and February 2004.
