Surprising Europe
www.surprisingeurope.com
African economic migrants usually have high expectations when they come to
Europe. But once there, Europe is very different compared to their dreams: it’s
not easy to find a job. Going back is most of the time not an option because it
would mean failure. Surprising Europe is a campaign to inform Africans living
in Africa and Europe about the difficulties and options of work migration from
Africa to Europe. For this a dramatised movie is made, that focuses on the
African public.

With the help of Digital Pioneers a website will be built:
SurprisingEurope.com. Here can be found what African migrants need to know
about coming to Europe. There will be said what kind of documents migrants do
or do not need, which travel routes can be taken and the various work
situations in Europe will be described. In short, this website will be some
sort of the Rough Guide to Europe. At a discussion forum Africans can share
experiences about live in Europe. The websites hopes to give migrants a
realistic view of their chances in Europe and as well hopes to become a
platform for a social and politic debate about migration problems.
