Verre Stemmen
Verre Stemmen (far away voices) wants to investigate what’s
possible with mobility within the public domain on the Internet. Language
scientists, anthropologists, biologists, fieldworkers and world bikers all carry
around digital cameras, phones and laptops along, especially when they go to a
place far away. At this way they function as mobile communication points between
people abroad and internet users as we in the Netherlands. De website is an open
platform for poetrists or storytellers from unknown language areas and their
promotors, the so called scientists. Every poetrist recites in his own language,
starting with the word Earth. In this way poetrists and storytellers get a
common podium for their unique language and culture and the way they see the
earth. The site will be placed online during the opening of Amsterdam
Wereldboekenstad in april 2008.
